Ryan began his racing career at 6 years old in cage karts and moved quickly up through the different divisions. Ryan says his quick success was most likely from his mom's slick meat sandwiches she made for every race weekend and his dad's crew chief knowledge. After dominating the ranks of cage karts in Nebraska, Ryan found his next challenge in Jr. Sprints.
Ryan started his Jr. Sprint Career in Nebraska but decided he wanted to travel to get the most experience by racing as many other drivers as he could. Even with his local track being in Nebraska, Ryan's "home track" was in Sweet Springs, MO but still found time to travel to Oklahoma and Texas during the racing seasons. Even while traveling to different tracks during the racing seasons, Ryan was awarded Rookie of the Year at Sweet Springs. During the winters, Ryan decided to throw his hat in the ring at the Tulsa Shootout, also known for the Chili Bowl. In 2009, a tough break during the last few laps of the race caused Ryan to fall back into 2nd place to be runner up for the famous Golden Driller Trophy.
After some successful years of racing, Ryan was approached to become the driver for Tugger Motorsports. Joining this team provided Ryan the opportunity to move into Micro Sprints running 600cc engines. Ryan traveled through the Midwest and the South once again racking up multiple wins and podiums at each track he traveled to. With his name on the map, eventually Linoma Racing & Services offered to sponsor his next car and give him the opportunity to race a 360 Sprint Car for the next few seasons. However before getting the chance to get behind the wheel of a 360 Sprint Car, Ryan decided to pursue his other dream to play D1 collegiate baseball thus putting his racing career on hold till after graduation.
Ryan has always been a spirited driver and working at the Performance Center has given him another opportunity to showcase his ability behind the wheel. Ryan has been able to practice his car control skills in vehicles ranging from a JCW Mini to the monstrous BMW M5CS while improving his abilities in drifting, evasive maneuvers, and driving fast! Ryan hopes to use these skills for racing, stunt driving, movie shoots, and/or protective and military service training in the future!
Ryan was hired as an instructor at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC back in 2021. During that time, Ryan has meshed well with the team and was quickly given the responsibility of leading every type of program that the Performance Center offers; whether that be a teen school teaching defensive and safe driving all the way up to the intense 2 Day M School teaching everything you need to know about driving fast and drifting! Ryan further committed to his passion by accepting an offer to be one of the few Full-Time Instructors with BMW and has begun to take on clientele for private coaching. With that in mind, the Performance Center isn't the only place for driver coaching. Ryan has traveled across the country to meet clients at race tracks for driver coaching as well!
Ryan paused his racing career to pursue his passion in education to compliment his knowledge in performance driving and racing. Ryan attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and earned two Bachelor's Degrees; one in Mechanical Engineering and one in Mathematics focusing on Physical Phenomena. After graduating, Ryan showed an interest in Patent Law and was accepted into Law School, but before attending he decided Engineering was his true passion. Ryan instead applied and was accepted to Clemson University for the graduate program.
Ryan completed his Master's Degree in Automotive Engineering from CU-ICAR (Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research) and graduated in May 2023. This degree provided a wide array of courses but were mainly focused on Vehicle Performance. Ryan's education has improved his understanding of the theory and engineering background to performance driving and racing.
