Level 1 instructor training was working towards completing difficult driving exercises, explain driving physics and theory, and showcase car/brand knowledge for BMW. Each exercise is designed to leave no room for error and covers every aspect of car control on an elevated level. Some examples of the exercises would be wet and dry lane changes with only inches to spare, lane changes at interstate speeds, drifting, and even a time-attack course.
Ryan endured 2 weeks of this intense and stressful training and ended up passing both the driving test, and the written theory test, with flying colors. Ryan is now 1 of ~500 people in the world to be a Level 1 certified Instructor.
To obtain the Instructor B1 Certification, Ryan had to complete Level 1 training and then complete an audit of a B1 program. Basically, the head instructor that overseas every other instructor for BMW watched a B1 program led by Ryan. Ryan had to complete every exercise to near perfection and give proper feedback that was up to par with the high standard of BMW instruction.
Ryan completed his audit with ease and has now been given the responsibility of proctoring the B1 examination and signing off on the certificates of successful participants.
Level 2 instructor training is working towards being able to complete difficult road driving exercises, precision track driving, explain advanced driving physics and theory, and showcase elevated car/brand knowledge within BMW. Each exercise is designed to leave even less room for error than Level 1 and covers the aspects of high speed car control at an advanced level. Some examples of the exercises would be double lane changes at interstate speeds, maintaining a drift on certain sections of a track, a time-attack course, precision track driving with no deviation from the perfect driving line, a time-attack lap on the track, and even coaching 3 cars following behind you on track while driving at speed.
Ryan endured almost 2 weeks of this intense and even more stressful training in the brutal desert heat in California. Ryan passed the precision driving test, the lead/follow track coaching test, and the written theory test with flying colors and is now 1 of ~200 people in the world to be a Level 2 certified Instructor.
Ryan had spent a week of nearly 1 on 1 training with the head instructor of the "electronics" program within BMW. Ryan learned the ins and outs of each system inside the car as this training is for people driving test vehicles or prototype vehicles where systems could completely fail while driving. This course teaches drivers how to react to each system failure and how to diagnose the problem while behind the wheel. Ryan has been given the responsibility of proctoring the examination and signing off on the certificates of successful participants.
Ryan is 1 of 3 people in all of North America that is certified to be an E1 Instructor.
